Kellie’s Slimdown: Day 10

I need to learn to work with another protein besides chicken. So far, I’ve tried sauteing it in chicken broth and sliced onions, marinating it in Italian dressing before baking it, and sprinkling it with seasoning before slapping it on the George Foreman. I think I need to go buy a grill and learn how to actually use it. With that little taste of char, I’m thinking I could probably eat grilled chicken almost every day and not get bored. My only problem is that I’m so scared of undercooking chicken that I tend to overcook it. So if you’re ever in the mood for dry chicken breast, just come to my house for supper!

 

As far as other proteins, I can only eat so many egg whites. I only like them boiled. For some reason, the smell and taste of scrambled egg whites doesn’t do it for me. I have to have a little yolk mixed in to make it palatable for me. And I’m scared of pork. Again, it’s the fear of undercooking it. But I need to learn at some point! And I’ve made it this far in life without ever cooking a turkey, but I’m thinking I might be able to follow the directions on the package and at least cook up a turkey breast…can’t I?

 

In a pinch, I’ve got packaged sliced chicken and turkey breast that’s meant for sandwiches, but it works when I’m in a hurry. And I’m also relying less on frozen diet entrees. I used to eat them up to three times a day! The sodium was killing me! But again, if I’m in a pinch, one every once in a while is a better choice than grabbing fast food. And by the way, I haven’t had fast food since I started the 21-Day Slimdown!! That’s a victory right there!
